ABOUT
Cedric's personal history with the Illinois Department of Child and Family Services has forged his commitment to youth development. Adopted by a supportive bi-racial couple, he honed his academic and leadership skills, later to major in Social Work & Sociology at Carthage College. His post-college career reflects his passion, having held roles from a youth services director to an independent living skills instructor.
Cedric graduated from Austin Community Academy in 1991 and pursued further education at Northeastern Illinois University, Carthage College, and the University of Wisconsin Parkside, majoring in Elementary Education, Social Work, and Sociology.
His comprehensive background includes roles as a youth services director, alcohol & drug counselor, care supervisor, recreational program manager, independent living skills instructor, and tutor. Cedric’s extensive educational journey and hands-on experience have enabled him to develop and lead programs that are not only evidence-based and clinically rigorous but also deeply rooted in cultural competence.
Cedric's commitment extends beyond program management to directly influencing policy and practice in youth development. His work is driven by a dedication to nurturing and educational approaches that respect and respond to the diverse needs of young people and their families.
